I'm descending into curmudgeoness a bit here. I'm tired of these newsreels of Jesse Ownens. It was teammate ralph Metcaffe who became the activist and leader; Jesse was taking the Colin Powell (Colin pre-2005) role. And you know what--Hitler really didn't get as pissed as people think. Recent scholarship suggests that yeah, he was upset, but consoled himself by being likely the first white man to publicly expound the "fast-twitch muscle fiber" theory. Frankly, was he any more scary than American whites at the time, who cheered Owens wildly in Berlin, yet ould have shot him if he'd had sex with a white girl back home?
I'm just venting...
